We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Corporate Controller to join our finance team. This position is responsible for supporting the Chief Financial Officer with the ongoing development, implementation, and management of sound financial reporting, forecasting, policies, and procedures related to accounting. This includes overseeing the preparation of financial statements, maintaining general ledger accuracy, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The role requires strong knowledge of construction accounting and the ability to work closely with project managers and senior management to ensure financial integrity and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

• Analyze and assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial statements to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

General Ledger Management:

• Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Monitor budget variances and report on financial performance to senior management.
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

• Ensure compliance with all accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Participate in preparation and support external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Project Accounting:

• Monitor and report on the financial status of construction projects.

Tax Compliance:

• Support tax audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
• Responsible for company data management and record keeping systems, electronic and hard copy

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong time management and organizational skills ability to prioritize, and comfortable working independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Able to manage sensitive and confidential data, information and situations with tact and professionalism.
• Strong communication skills: must be able to maintain a positive demeanor with clients, vendors, and staff both written and oral.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping, job costing, and accounts payable principles.
• Proficient computer skills including with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or related software.
• Competence in financial and bookkeeping software is necessary.
• Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy in financial reporting, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work extended hours during peak periods, such as month-end, year-end, audits and on projects.
